Integral Experiences
Kate Farm Manager
January 2022 - Present
Since fall 2021, I have been an active member of the Kate Chandler Campus Farm community. The Farm is an integral part of the St. Mary's College campus, providing a place for students, faculty, and the local community to practice sustainable farming and to connect over a shared love for the land.

I have worked up the levels of management at the Farm, climbing from volunteer to club organizer, intern, and now manager. Farm managers have varying responsibilities, ranging from organizing animal care to facilitating hundreds of pounds of food donations. I have experience in both of those areas, as well as in horticulture, permaculture, fungiculture, vehicle repair, woodworking, and small-scale agribusiness.

On top of this, I find myself most involved with the community aspect of the Farm. I organize intern and volunteer work schedules and working parties, and I have been President of the Kate Farm Club since fall 2022. My work on the Farm with the land and with others has helped me to refine my leadership in a variety of settings, and learn to appreciate playing in the dirt.

USMC Officer Candidates School
May 2023 - June 2023
To date, Officer Candidates School (OCS) is the most difficult experience I have voluntarily undertaken. It is the first of many steps towards my goal of becoming a Marine Officer.

I am a part of the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) program of instruction, where candidates complete two six-week courses on Brown Field in Quantico, Virginia, during their summer breaks. Summer 2023 I successfully completed PLC Juniors, and will return summer 2024 to undertake PLC Seniors.

The goal of OCS is to screen and evaluate officer candidates in three categories- academics, physical fitness, and leadership. Candidate billets, the incredible physical demand, classroom tests, and lack of sleep contribute to the program's high attrition rate. Completing with an 89.8%, OCS has made me more mentally strong, capable individual, and I look forward to returning.

Resident Assistant
January 2022 - Present
Being a Resident Assistant (RA) is one of my favorite roles on campus. I was hired second semester of my freshman year, and since then I have been responsible for the safety and well-being of 86 students in three different areas.

The RA job is demanding, but incredibly rewarding. Basic RA responsibilities include maintaining resident interaction logs, submitting work orders, handling college policy violations, and standing duty on assigned nights.

At times, the position can be difficult to manage. Long nights, resident conflicts, and frustrating situations take their toll. Each challenge serves as a learning opportunity, though, and they have helped me to learn to work well with a wide variety of people.

Cross Country and Track Captain
August 2021 - Present
I have run competitively since fourth grade, and am proud to continue racing for St. Mary's. I compete in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track, and am a top performer for the school.

Being chosen for the captain position my second year on the team was a great honor, as I am passionate about the team and I want to do what I can to make sure we succeed. At times it is difficult managing the team, interpersonal relationships, and coach expectations, on top of grueling practices, but I love every second of it.

I am an inherently competitive individual, and training with the team and watching us all succeed brings me a great amount of joy- one that encourages me to continue running.
